Tracy Dogs, Dry Summers and a Groomer at the Curb
Tracy has a semi-arid climate with cool, damp winters and very hot, dry summers. A typical year brings about 18 days of 100 degrees or more and around 82 days above 90, with only about 12 inches of rain. Dogs get outside at Duke's Dog Park on Summit Drive, a neighborhood park with a dedicated off-leash area, or on walks around Tracy Hills, Ellis and Glenbriar Estates. By midsummer the grass along fields turns straw colored and dry, and that is when sharp seed heads called foxtails start catching in paws and coats.
A van visit fits this well. I groom one small dog at a time, at your home, with warm water on board and nothing left behind. I keep the coat short enough to brush and check between the toes, around the ears and under the legs for seeds and burrs. Matted, dusty fur holds heat, so I clear it before the hottest weeks arrive.
